Storied domain name now available at domain broker.
It’s been in the works for a while, and I understand an agreement was signed a few weeks ago, but today Sedo announced that Sex.com is up for sale. It will be sold along with two trademarks.
As of now it looks like Sedo is treating this as a broker deal. I suspect there’s a (high) asking price, and Sedo is trying to gauge interest. If multiple buyers are interested I wouldn’t be surprised to see some sort of auction, although it might be a private auction not handled through the company’s usual auction interface.
Sedo had been in talks with one of Escom (Sex.com owner) equity and debt holders Mike Mann for awhile about selling the domain. But then another equity and debt holder, DOM Partners, foreclosed on the domain. Mann then pushed Escom into bankruptcy through some of his companies. The parties later agreed to hire Sedo to sell the domain name.
